About
History
LARR (Latin America & RUTA Regions), an initiative of the RUTA Association dedicated to fostering transregional dialogues between scholars and practitioners from Latin America and the RUTA region(s).
The initial discussions will focus on the responses and perceptions of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in Latin America. We aim to analyze how different countries have reacted to the war and how the intersection of various historical contexts between Latin America and the RUTA region(s) has shaped these responses.
Beyond this pressing issue, LARR seeks to engage with broader themes of decolonization, imperial legacies, and historical democratization processes in both regions. By examining shared experiences – including the struggle against colonialism, the impact of authoritarian regimes, and the challenges of political transformation, we strive to build meaningful academic and intellectual connections.
To advance these conversations, LARR will host a series of online and in-person events, creating new opportunities for scholarly engagement and collaborative research between Latin America and the RUTA region(s).
We invite scholars, researchers, and practitioners interested in transregional dialogue to join us in this initiative. Stay tuned for upcoming events and ways to participate!
